The absolute best way to learn how to fly fish is to hire a guide, and not just any guide, but a guide who likes to teach, is a good communicator, and is patient. You will learn more in one day with a good “teaching guide” than you will fishing twice a week on your own for months on end.

Utah's Provo River is a phenomenal blue ribbon self-sustaining brown trout fishery with all brown trout naturally reproducing in the river without stocking. In addition you will find Rainbow Trout, Cutthroat Trout and even Brook Trout in the upper reaches.

The Lower Provo runs from the Deer Creek Reservoir downstream through limestone walled Provo Canyon existing into Utah Valley where it meanders through the city until it reaches Utah Lake. Fly fishing along the Lower Provo is best from Deer Creek Dam to the lower end of the canyon at Olmstead diversion.
